Background

The idea for the Open Secure Firefox Extension came to me when I was using some Google applications. I regularly use Gmail, Google reader, Google docs among others. In my settings for the browser connection there is the default value of normal http. This is fine with me, but what if I want to create a document with content I don't wanna send over the net unencrypted?

Well, Google has made it really simple to switch to an encrypted connection. After opening a site you can easily change from http to https by adjusting the address in the navigation address field. Easy enough? I don't think so... and the Open Secure Extension is born.
